For SEO competition is the use of: Allintitle:"keyword" reliable?
I mean, I checked a few keywords for competition but I receive different results in different days for the same keyword. And the difference is big, it could differ of hundreds or thousands of search. Why is that?
If you are referring to Google Search Results number then of course it differs.
The reason for this? different reasons
- Search results number differ from browser to browser (sometimes even the results are different)
- Different data center has different number of indexed results so the number differs
- It also differs from geographically.
Ultimately search engines are built to serve the search user with relevant and useful content.
Hope that helps

It’s reliable in so much as you’ll know which sites are actually including that keyword in their title tag. It’s one of several techniques used to gauge the competitiveness of a specific service or keyword - I’ve found it works best when analyzing local competition, not so much when you’re going after bigger markets -
Also, you need to realize that you’ll also going to get a lot of article pages, blog sites, etc… that’s probably why you’re getting different results, depending on what the keyword is you’re looking for…
The best check is to see who’s ranking on the first page of the 3 major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) for that keyword in your market and go after the top players.
